Pay 'Homage' to Spicers Hidden Vale
After a very full term pregnancy with our beautiful baby boy (now 5 months old) - I'm back on board writing about what else makes me happy - Food! Homage Restaurant at Spicers Hidden Vale was one of the very first places we visited with our new born.
It was our 2nd year Wedding anniversary and we usually head to Spicers Peak Lodge and splurge on some of the best food South East Queensland has to offer (not to mention the copious amounts of Veurve consumed throughout our stay) but this year we were a party of three with a brand new pram to break in.
Were would we go and a) not be in the way of anyone enjoying a romantic weekday away without kids b) celebrate some pretty special happenings over the past few years with our new born in tow and c) keep the Spicers Retreat tradition going ... Homage Hidden Vale was the spot!
We parked the car and headed up the beautifully bricked drive admiring the lush grounds Spicers properties are well known for soon to be greeted by the front desk team. Instantly I could smell wood fire, hot coffee and leather!
We were ushered to our table within the Homage dining room to find a lovely table suitable to park our perfect 6 week old whom by this time was sound asleep in his bassinet. #winning
We enjoyed beautifully home made breads, a pork and puffed rice amuse bouche served on what looked like a local river stone (only the best river stone), mains of rib eye and gourmet pulled pork burger with apple slaw and french fries to then finish off with the 'Lemon meringue, myrtle' tart and the award winning 'Homage Honey, spring flowers, bay ice cream' dessert. WOW!
The desserts were well and truly the show stopper! The Homage honey creation actually looked like something you would find amongst the trees in a bee hive. ; it was almost too beautiful to eat.... almost!
Thank you once again to Jude Turner and the Spicers Retreats team for always dedicating yourselves to source the best food, the most finest decor and most importantly the best guest experience from start to finish.
Only 271 more days to go for the next anniversary ...
